North Yorkshire Education Services entered into a Partnership from September 2003, with Lincolnshire based EM Direct to facilitate teacher training in the LEA' s schools on the Graduate, Registered and Overseas Trained Teacher Programmes.
EM Direct are a highly successful Designated Recommending Body (DRB).
The Partnership arrangement find, neither trainees for schools nor schools for trainees. People wishing to train as teachers are advised to contact schools to find one who is prepared to offer them a training place. Once a school has a potential trainee, they need to contact EM Direct to progress it.
INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS
Any North Yorkshire LEA School who has an applicant wishing to train as a teacher on the GTP should contact EM Direct to make an application to the TTA Central Pool of retained places. EM Direct will work with schools to prepare an application then submit it to the TTA on the school's behalf. If the application is approved then the trainee teacher will be included in the full EM Direct training programme.
To process your school's application, you will need to have contacted EM Direct no later than one month before the TTA closing date to allow time for EM Direct to visit the school and prepare an application. Cllosing dates can be obtained from EM Direct on 01476 512780.
Any school who is considering taking on a GTP trainee and has not previously has any involvement with the programme is advised to contact the TTA GTP Administration Unit (Tel: 01223 578500) to obtain a Voucher for an Advisory Visit which will cover the cost of EM Direct coming out to discuss the process and implications with you.

Any North Yorkshire LEA School wishing to train as a teacher on the GTP, will be able to make application to EM Direct for one of the allocated places. It should be pointed out that there is no automatic entitlement to a place. A rigorous selection procedure will take place to ensure the best applicants, and the schools offering good training environments, are offered places. Full details of the application dates and the process will be made available to North Yorkshire Schools later in the year once the number of places is known.

- high quality secondary applications in any subject;
- applications to train people currently working as teaching assistants.
You can register your interest for GTP training with EM Direct by sending them your CV, but you will still need to find a school yourself. If any school enquires of EM Direct whether they know of any interested people your details may be passed to appropriate ones.
